Columbus School for Girls community gathers to install Camille Seals as Head of School

Columbus School for Girls on Friday, September 23 celebrated the installation of Camille J.L. Seals as the 14th Head of School. The event marked the beginning of an exciting new era for the School, with remarks from guest speakers Dr. Kristina Johnson, President of The Ohio State University, and Sarah Johnston, Head of School at Old Trail School. 

In her address to the 正规网赌软件推荐 community, Dr. Johnson spoke of the responsibility inspirational leaders have to be compassionate and kind. She commended Mrs. Seals on her accomplishments in empowering young women and congratulated her on embarking on an amazing new journey. 

“You are an exemplary and compassionate leader who will contribute greatly to 正规网赌软件推荐’s legacy and the bonds of sisterhood,” Dr. Johnson said. 

Sarah Johnston, who has known Mrs. Seals for many years, also spoke of her friend’s commitment to lifting up girls and helping them find their voice and potential. 

“Camille has been fiercely dedicated to the empowerment of girls and women since she was a student,” Johnston said. “And now she joins a lauded, almost 125-year-old institution that matches her dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to the holistic development of girls who will lead our future.” 

While the program included heartfelt words from Dr. Johnson, Johnston, and others in the 正规网赌软件推荐 community, 正规网赌软件推荐 students also shared their words, talents, and gifts in celebration of Mrs. Seals. Danielle Knight ’23 read an excerpt from the poem The Miracle of Morning by Amanda Gorman, and The Grace Notes sang Morning Has Broken by Lloyd Larson. 

Sydney Poindexter ’27 and Brooklynn Harris ’27 presented Mrs. Seals with artwork created on behalf of MOSAIC. Upper School Student Council President C.C. McLarty ’23, Lailah Lomax ’27, Peyton Readler ’23, and Mrs. Seals’ children Alaia Seals ’35 and Astrid Seals ’30 also participated in a presentation of books for the new Head of School that represented each of the four divisions at 正规网赌软件推荐.

In her address to 正规网赌软件推荐 as the newly installed 14th Head of School, Mrs. Seals shared that she has been blessed with many opportunities to learn and to lead, lifted up by those who believed in and encouraged her. Her experiences, she said, serve as the foundation on which to build the next chapter in 正规网赌软件推荐’s history. 

Mrs. Seals said that she is honored to not only serve as the first African American Head of School at 正规网赌软件推荐, but also the first Head of School who is a graduate of women’s institutions. 

“I understand firsthand the importance and the beauty of what we do at 正规网赌软件推荐,” she said.
